CBC Searchlight 2015

We have had the pleasure of presenting so many talented up & coming performers over the last 6 years and it has always been so great to see the support that CBC brings our Canadian artists. CBC Music is presenting another year of Searchlight and we are helping to spread the word!

Tune up your guitars and warm up your vocal cords, in less than a month CBC Music presents Searchlight 2015 – The Hunt for Canada’s Best New Artist. Last year, thousands of Canadian bands showcased their range of musical abilities, Lauren Mann & The Fairly Odd Folk took home the grand prize of a showcase at the CBC Music Festival and $20,000 in gear from Yamaha, and tons of other bands received radio play and national exposure that led to record deals, more radio play, coverage in newspapers and magazines, and tons of new fans.
Submissions open on March 2. What can you do to prepare now? Choose your song that will represent you throughout Searchlight, and head to CBC Music and create an artist profile.

Celebrate Research with UBCO and CBC Daybreak

From March 4 to 8, CBC shines the spotlight on what’s happening in labs and libraries all over the campus.

Join Chris Walker between 5:30 and 8:30 throughout the week on Daybreak as we highlight some of the projects happening right now at the university.

And we plan to do some research of our own.

Daybreak asks “What is the purpose of public education” and looks at where education is going and where it needs to go.

Then, on Thursday March 7 from noon to 1 pm at the Streaming Cafe (596 Leon Ave) we’ll invite experts, teachers, parents, academics and you to have a say.

So help us Celebrate Research on CBC Daybreak.
