WINDMILLS
is Cory Myraas.
Born out of the beautiful Okanagan Valley, Windmills was formed in April of 2011 by Cory Myraas after an 8 month musical hiatus and withdrawal from the confliction and power-politics of bands. In an incredibly humbling and extremely busy 5 months, Windmills has played over a dozen shows and has had the opportunity to open for such bands as Library Voices, Wool on Wolves, and most recently opening for The Dudes during Kelowna’s POP Okanagan 2011. Praised for his energetic live shows and originality, Windmills has created a buzz and a name already familiar throughout the Okanagan.
So... what does a Windmill do?

Windmills is described as an electric indie folk-rock band, but more importantly Windmills is a one man loop-artist, meaning every song is created and based around looping melodies and percussion, as well as vocals live during live performances. The danger and spontaneity in this is the equipment that is used to create as well as perform these songs. Using a Line6 DL-4 digital delay pedal with a 12 second looping sampler, Windmills has found the quintessential balance between manipulating the pedal to his loops and playing the right complimentary guitar beside it. But it doesn’t stop here, using a Boss multi-fx pedal simultaneously connected to the DL-4 but at the same time running a line out to a microphone, Windmills is able to loop and layer vocal harmonies as well as add effects (such as Delay, Overdrive, Phaser) to his vocals. With this second microphone he is also able to loop floor tom drum beats and percussive elements creating the fullest one-man band sound you could fathom. This creates a live show that cannot be described with justice: it simply must be seen to be believed. Entering the studio in November of 2011 Windmills is set to release a 9 track record that captures both the complexity and the energy of his live shows, while maintaining the professional quality the studio affords. “Keep Moving” is a record that represents the Okanagan Valley; the beauty and the sound, progressively pushing the boundaries of the one-man band genre while at the same time exploring mature musical themes that offer a true representation of Cory Myraas as well as Windmills. One thing is clear...
...Windmills Keep Moving.
