With a new album released in March 2008, smokekiller is ready to be seen and heard. The new record was mixed by Odds guitarist Steven Drake(mixed the tragically hip, 54-40). Smokekiller was in Austin, TX for SXSW with Jen Lane and showcased the Smokekiller band at NXNE in Toronto, ON. In 2009 smokekiller has already played at the Cultural Olympiad in Vancouver, and SXSW in Austin, TX, with NXNE (backing up Jen Lane) coming up in June.With "13" in stores now, and a successful summer tour in 2008, it has been a busy year for smokekiller. The new album title comes from having 13 tracks on the record, but is also smokekiller's birthday (born on a friday the 13th of april some years ago.) As well, smokekiller has been writing songs for 13 years, so the title just seemed to make sense. With all the buzz surrounding the project smokekiller has made some big waves in the music industry in 2008, and with backing up Jen Lane at the 2009 Cultural Olympiad in February, and showcasing smokekiller and Jen Lane at SXSW 2009 in March, it is looking like a great year for Smokekiller. "13" is now charting at college radio across the country with 17 top tens out of 50 stations in the first week!!
